Organizational Know-How
Knowledge of how an organization actually operates across roles and departments.
What it means
Organizational know-how includes unwritten rules, dependencies between departments, and knowing who to turn to in a given situation. A formal org chart doesn't capture any of this.
Why it matters
Organizational know-how determines how fast things actually get done. New hires without it waste time.
A real-world example
An experienced coordinator knows a certain change must be discussed with maintenance before planning, or the deadline slips.
The body of practical knowledge and procedures that lets an organization run and make decisions.
Preserved knowledge, decisions, and their context, accessible across the organization and over time.
Knowledge of how processes actually run and where their weak points lie.
An overview of where in the organization key knowledge is located.
Systematic work with an organization's knowledge, from capture to use.
